Coach Tom is a 45-minute strength training workout tailored to your personal abilities, needs, and goals. Even within the group setting we create an environment that allows you to progress safely and effectively for you to become stronger and move better at your pace.
Our workouts combine a sequence of exercises that target all parts of your body. Coach Tom will help you yield all the important benefits of resistance training while developing better movement quality. Our coaches provide the necessary progressions, and modifications you need to make group exercise a personal experience.

At Coach Tom we want to welcome everybody. No one should ever feel discouraged by the presence of others who may have more experience lifting heavy and able to perform high-level, challenging movements. Coach Tom provides a dynamic, and encouraging atmosphere where everybody is getting better on their own accord. Where nobody is trying to be anyone they’re not. If you want to lift heavy and get under a 315 lb. barbell on a back squat, “Let’s f****** go!”.
If you’re just starting out and developing your body’s coordination and tolerance for a 45-minute workout, we’re gonna pace you safely and effectively with your needs as a priority. So whether you’ve had years of experience training in the gym, or you’ve never touched a weight in your life, Coach Tom is a great program for you.


The Story
Tom Schneider founded Coach Tom in 2021 by opening up his first location in Kenilworth after working as a Strength Coach for over 10 years. His experience helped him form a philosophy that focused on identifying the needs of his clients and their relationship with the gym and how to get them to buy into taking advantage of the important benefits resistance training provides. Some people have a fire in their belly when walking into the gym. Some people get anxious and begrudge it. Others are somewhere in between. But all stand to gain from doing it.
Tom’s focus became creating a method of training that makes exercise enjoyable, welcoming, and challenging for every person from every level of fitness within a group class that still make the clients feel like they’re getting a personal training session.
After 3 years at the Kenilworth location Tom is thrilled to see Coach Tom grow as it adds another location in Logan Square in 2025.
